I’m very passionate about making distance learning events accessible to teachers. Current technologies are sometime cumbersome and difficult to access for educators. If there were no bandwidth constraints, we could literally make the world available to our students, taking live video conferences anywhere. Nothing would be off limits. Caves, national parks, coral reefs, and remote archeological sites would all be accessible. [more]
Watching a student as they grasp a new concept, as they explore their latest interest, and as they share their passions with others is amazing. Being there to enable that, to encourage it, and to observe it is a privilege, not just with my own kids, but with all the students we support. Michael serves students and teachers in and around Houghton, Michigan, a rural and remote area of the Upper Peninsula. [more]
It’s important for everyone to be scientifically literate. We all are responsible for how the world and the universe works. [more]
One of my goals is to provide students with more authentic and engaging experiences learning science. I do this by trying to put real scientific tools and data into their hands. In a world unconstrained by bandwidth, this kind of thing would be much more practical and students would have access to a greater range of these tools. [more]
I'm inspired by artists, writers, thinkers who imagine communications and expressive mediums yet to be a reality and the steps they take to experiment with their ideas. [more]
