Overview

The Exploratorium continues it's broadcast series of total solar eclipse events on August 1, 2008 with the live broadcast from Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in northwestern China near the Mongolian border. You're invited to hold a viewing event at your institution. We'll publish live streams of our hosted program and a separate telescope-only feed. Date and time help is available at the program website. The program is available in Flash and Windows Media streaming formats from the Exploratorium's website, and in QuickTime streaming format at our in-world event in Second Life. The program and telescope-only feeds are also available by direct satellite downlink. The Exploratorium is interested in unique video stream sharing opportunities in the Internet2 educational community. Please get in touch if you have the interest and ability to do something interesting with the program. On-demand replays of the program and telescope-only feed will be available approximately 30 minutes after the program end. A totality highlight clip will also be available.

Project goals

Dissemination of informal science education program and direct communication of eclipse phenomena via telescopic views.
