I am interested in using Internet2 to explore the effects of culture on our identities and development. I would like my students to discuss, with students of a different culture (via Internet2 and e-mail/Discussion Boards), specific psychological questions for which they might have different approaches, experiences, and perspectives. For example, students could engage in conversation around the following issues: parenting styles, attachment relationships, educational systems, psychological disorders, conformity, death and afterlife. I am currently trying to identify other faculty members who might be interested in pursuing similar issues and questions. Through this global classroom exchange, I hope that students will better understand the enormous influence that culture has on the individuals we become.
